As a retiree with no income except for what the "nest egg" can generate from fixed deposits, rental(s) maybe, and reit dividends, a walk in the market place (not the Bursa) will tell you that the economy is not good. A small piece of kueh cost more than before and the price of "economy beehoon" will set you back RM2 or more. Lim Guan Eng and BNM will tell you the fundamentals are strong but how many retirees can claim that to be true looking at the 3-4% FD interest currently to be encountered.
.To some who still have not cashed out their EPF savings, the recent EPF declarations of 6.15% for conventional and 5.9% were very welcomed.
For 2018, post GE14, the Bursa fell, mutual funds went south 10-15%, SST was implemented and despite GST demise, cost of living went up.
So what can retirees do?
Coming up next......time to consult the investment guruji/bomoh.....once again
