Controversy over Melaka’s appointed reps.

Recently the Melaka DUN  on July 14, the state assembly of Melaka passed a controversial “State Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2026” to allow the state governor to appoint up to seven unelected, nominated assemblymen to the assembly.

On May 7th 2026, Johor state assembly passes bill allowing appointment of non-elected assemblymen

After the 16th Johore State Election on July 11th 2026,  on July 18th ten Johor assemblymen took their oaths of office on Saturday as members of the Johor state executive council (exco).

On July 22nd 2026, the Johore state assembly appointed 10 assembymen as deputy exco members.
