The 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election. 

 A total of 103 candidates will be contesting in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election, today is nomination day. Early polling will be on 28th July and the actual polling day is on Aug 1st.

 Some of the seats where the big guns will be contesting are ::

 

N1. Chennah

  • Loke Siew Fook (PH)
  • Siow Kong Choon (BN)

2023 state polls winner: Loke Siew Fook (PH) – 5,888 votes (2,200 majority)

N2. Pertang

  • Umry Abdul Khois (PH)
  • Jalaluddin Alias (BN)
  • Faizal Fadli Idrus (Bersatu)

2023 state polls winner: Jalaluddin Alias (BN) – 5,634 votes (2,790 majority)

 N10. Nilai

  • J Arul Kumar (PH)
  • Lai Chien Kong (BN)
  • V K Saravana (Bersatu)

For this state election BN will have an electoral understanding with PN/Pas, BN will contest in 25 seats and PN/Pas will contest in 11 seats of the 36 contested. There will be no overlap.

PH will contest in all 36 seats.

The almost official results of the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election ::

BN/PN scored 25 seats, PH scored 11 seats. 

A breakdown of the winning parties are as follows:

  • Umno - 16 (Pertang, Sungai Lui, Palong, Jeram Padang, Lenggeng, Juasseh, Seri Menanti, Senaling, Pilah, Johol, Labu, Chembong, Rantau, Kota, Linggi, Gemencheh)

  • MCA - two (Chennah, Repah)

  • PAS - four (Serting, Ampangan, Paroi, Bagan Pinang)

  • Parti Wawasan Negara - three (Klawang, Sikamat, Gemas)

  • DAP - nine (Bahau, Nilai, Lobak, Temiang, Bukit Kepayang, Rahang, Mambau, Seremban Jaya, Lukut)

  • PKR - two (Chuah, Sri Tanjung)

A total of eight seats changed hands.

DAP lost two (Chennah, Repah) to MCA, while Umno flipped Pilah (PKR) and Labu (Bersatu).

Wawasan Negara bagged one seat each from Amanah (Klawang), PKR (Sikamat), Bersatu (Gemas), while PAS took Ampangan from PKR.

MIC and MIPP lost in all the seats they contested, meaning there will be no Indians in the new state government.

Meanwhile, no Malay candidates from Pakatan Harapan won, meaning there will be no Malays in the state opposition.

Zahid called for the transition of power to be handled with respect and compassion,  He said political leaders should uphold principles of humanity and proper etiquette during the handover of power, recalling the treatment received by former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan following the 2023 state election.

After GE14 in 2018, an Election Court voided Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan Rantau win on November 16, 2018, due to issues surrounding his uncontested nomination process, leading to a subsequent by-election in 2019 where he successfully retained the seat.

One wonders if PMx and Anthony Loke and Mat Sabu are taking note of this prediction? More important, is the Rakyat aware of this prediction, the attempt by some to punish PH for the disappointment can have serious consequences in GE16. Imagine Penang becoming the 2nd Kelate or Aeropolis Kedah.
